Description

CODE V 2024.03 Service Release 1

We are pleased to announce that CODE V 2024.03 Service Release 1 (SR1) is now available. This service release will run with CODE V 2024.03 license codes (available from SolvNetPlus).

The latest updates include:

  • Improvement of 2D Image Simulation (IMS) option to use larger images.
  • Resolution of conflict when using a pickup with an environmental coupling. The environmental coupling now takes precedence as intended.
  • Improvement of the GDS writer to enable writing larger GDS files that describe metalens layout for manufacturing.
  • New Index tab added to the CODE V Help system. Index entries can be filtered to speed discovery of relevant information.

Additional information is provided in CODE V 2024.03 SR1 Release Notes, which are available from SolvNetPlus or your distributor.

Software and License File Instructions

Direct-Sales Customers

Software and license key files for CODE V direct-sales customers are available on the Synopsys SolvNetPlus website.

  • CODE V product software: You can download CODE V and the latest Release Notes from (or from the SolvNetPlus Home page, click the Downloads navigation tile). Click CODE V, and then CODE V 2024.03 SR1. Note that the latest Release Notes must be viewed/downloaded from this page. The SR1 software installs the Release Notes for CODE V 2024.03.
  • License key file: If CODE V version 2024.03 is already running with a license, you can install just the CODE V software. Users of all other versions of CODE V must download a new license key file using the SmartKeys page on SolvNetPlus
  • Complete instructions for installing CODE V are available in the CODE V Installation Guide.
  • To learn more about navigating SolvNetPlus to obtain CODE V software and license key files, visit our “Using SolvNetPlus” page.

Distributor Customers

For customers working with distributors, you will continue to obtain your software, license keys, and Release Notes from your local CODE V software distributor. See the Synopsys Optical Solutions Group Global Contacts page for contact information. If your country is not listed on the page referenced above.

Key Features

Design optimization (including Global Synthesis) that speeds time to market
Fast, accurate tolerancing for superior fabrication support
Accurate, groundbreaking beam propagation analysis
CODE V’s Glass Expert provides AI-optimized glass selection to maximize design performance and control manufacturing costs
Extensive built-in libraries of optical system models (patents, etc.), components, and optical glasses
Comprehensive graphics capabilities (pictures, data plots, shaded displays), including 3D visualizations and diffraction-based image simulations
Non-sequential surface modeling for unusual systems
Fast 2D image simulation to visualize optical system performance
High-fidelity transfer of models to LightTools for illumination, ghost image, and stray light analysis
With the CODE V Meta Optic Design add-on, you can combine ray tracing with electromagnetic field solvers to simplify the design of imaging systems that include both conventional optics and metalenses.

Multi-Environment Coupling

CODE V’s Multi-Environment Coupling feature allows users to model and optimize athermalized spacer-based lens designs across a wide range of environmental conditions. The models consider changes in refractive index and substrate prescription changes due to different temperatures, pressures, and mounting links. An interoperability feature enables export of MultiEnvironment Coupling models to LightTools for further analysis.

What’s New in CODE V Version 2024.03 sr1

Visualization Capability for Athermalization

Athermalization is a key part of optical design in which engineers consider the effect of temperature changes on lens mounting. CODE V includes a new visualization tool in V3D that assists with this process. The tool shows engineers how the housing interacts with glass elements and their interconnections, without having to know the details of the optomechanical mount.

CODE V MetaOptic Design

A breakthrough in optical technology, meta optical surfaces are thin, flat surfaces that can augment traditional lenses. These complex surfaces can now be efficiently designed in CODE V using a diffractive optic property modeling process. Note that this tool is an add-on to CODE V that comes with an additional fee and requires Synopsys Common Licensing.

Faster Image Simulation

The 2D Image Simulation (IMS) feature, which simulates imagery produced by the lens defined in CODE V, includes a significant speed enhancement in this release, particularly with machines using multiple processing cores.

Expanded Example Model Library

The CODE V Example Model Library helps you quickly learn how to use specific features, including Global Synthesis, Beam Synthesis Propagation to analyze diffraction-related characteristics, and SpecBuilder for setting up lens system specifications. The library includes 11 new examples in this release.
