Description

⚡ ETAP PowerStation 2026 — electrical power system analysis software

ETAP PowerStation 2026 is the current commercial release of ETAP’s electrical digital-twin platform (build line 26.0.0C, commercial release 7 May 2026). It is built for engineers who design, protect, and operate power systems — not for one-line drawings alone. One physics-based model covers planning, studies, protection, renewables, and operations.

After more than 40 years of power-system software, ETAP 2026 is positioned as Continuous Energy Intelligence: an AI-augmented, standards-aligned digital twin. Typical work includes load flow, short circuit, protective-device coordination, arc flash, harmonics, motor starting, transient stability, reliability, and renewable interconnection studies for industrial plants, data centers, utilities, rail, marine, and generation.

🆕 What is new in ETAP PowerStation 2026

ETAP documents 50+ new features and enhancements across nine pillars, plus the largest engineering-library expansion in the product’s history: 23,000+ validated models, including 17,500+ protective devices, 5,000+ PV array models, and 900+ cable models and sizes from global manufacturers.

🖥️ User experience and modeling speed

  • 🧭 3D network visualization — inspect network data and simulation results beyond the classic one-line diagram.
  • 📊 Network Manager — matrix-style bulk edit. Find incorrect properties (for example motor data) and update every instance from one table.
  • 📝 Direct edits inside revisions — change a scenario without cloning the whole project.
  • ⏱️ ETAP cites about 20–30% productivity gain on modeling, analysis, and reporting versus earlier workflows.

🤖 AI and engineering intelligence

  • 💬 Electric AI Copilot — natural-language help to search project data, run analysis context, build reports, and modify the model.
  • ✨ AI Auto-Complete — suggests elements and connections from the network already on the one-line.
  • 🔒 Secure local intelligence — guidance stays tied to ETAP’s power-system knowledge base instead of an open export of the project.

🛡️ Safety, arc flash, and protection

  • 🔥 Transient DC arc flash with 3D MHD modeling for data centers and battery energy storage — physics-based incident energy, not a simple approximation.
  • 📋 Standards alignment with NFPA 70E 2027, CSA Z462 2024, and EN 50110-1 2024.
  • ⚡ Transient capacitor energy discharge aimed at NFPA 70E 2027 requirements.
  • 🪜 StarZ stepped-event analysis and multi-stage short circuit linked to protection and coordination.
  • 📈 Faster AC arc-flash batch processing, meshed-network fault-isolation checks (succeed/fail), and TCC plots with breaker delay, fuse preload, and time/current shift.
  • 📄 Excel-ready protective-device setting deliverables and datablocks.
  • 🔁 ArcFault updates for differential relay modeling.

🌪️ Dynamics, motors, and transients

  • 🏭 MotorPro — estimate and check motor parameters from manufacturer data.
  • 📉 Frequency-response estimation from time-domain runs for control-system tuning.
  • 🔋 Load-flow analyzer for BESS and renewable plants.
  • ⚖️ Unbalanced transient stability for networks that are not balanced three-phase in practice.

🌱 Renewables, hosting capacity, and grid code

  • ☀️ Feeder hosting capacity with protection and harmonics in the same study path.
  • 🌍 Volt-VAR optimization with CO₂ intelligence.
  • 🔗 Network reduction and aggregation for large interconnection studies.
  • 🌡️ Transmission thermal-limit studies aligned with IEEE 738, IEEE 605, IEEE C57.91, and FERC Order 881.
  • ✅ GridCode Dynamics — automated compliance checks and disturbance scenarios.

🧰 Assets, data exchange, and operations

  • 🗓️ Maintenance-interval tracking for NFPA 70B, with condition, criticality, and system-impact context.
  • 📱 eAPM local and mobile access to asset data.
  • 🐍 etapPY scripting and study automation, including one-line creation through a RESTful API.
  • 🔄 DataX exchange for SKM V11, Revit 2025 and 2026, AutoCAD 2025 and 2026, CIM17-GIS, ESRI ArcMap 10.8.2, Caneco BT, and ERACS.
  • 📗 Excel exchange with 22 new element types, universal mapping, and one-line view import/export.
  • 🚦 Real-time energized and de-energized feeder view, switching sequences that prioritize critical loads, and enhanced FLISR (fault location, isolation, and service restoration).

☁️ Licensing and cybersecurity

  • 🔑 Re-architected License Manager with automated key exchange and centralized governance for distributed teams.
  • 🛡️ 30+ cybersecurity enhancements on an ISO 27001-certified, defense-in-depth foundation.

🔧 Fixes, quality, and upgrade path

ETAP does not publish a public, line-by-line bug list for PowerStation 2026. The commercial notes describe hundreds of enhancements on top of the ETAP 2024 interface. Documented quality work in this release includes faster arc-flash batch runs, a rebuilt license manager, installer handling of prerequisites, and the cybersecurity hardening above. Itemized defect fixes ship in the Help Desk release notes with the licensed download.

  • ✅ Upward project conversion, library support, technical inquiries, and activation codes are supported for commercial builds 26.0.0C through 22.5.0C.
  • ⏳ Builds 22.0.2C–21.0.2C were scheduled to retire on 1 September 2026. Earlier versions are retired.
  • 🧹 Installation adds the engineering library and etaps64.exe to the Windows Defender exclusion list so antivirus scans do not slow library linking.
  • 🆙 Upgrade value is current standards, newer equipment models, and interoperability (BIM, CAD, GIS, Excel, Python) rather than a cosmetic point release.

  • 🧮 A 10,000-bus study is a different machine class from a 100-bus plant study. Size RAM and disk to the largest project, not the installer size alone.

👷 Who this ETAP PowerStation 2026 license is for

Protection engineers, plant electrical engineers, consultants, and utilities who need maintained load-flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, coordination, and renewable studies in one model. It is not a drawing-only CAD seat and not a consumer portable power station. Module scope, network versus standalone license, and language pack should be confirmed against the quote.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“We moved plant studies to ETAP PowerStation 2026 and kept load flow, short circuit, and arc flash on one model. Network Manager cut bulk data cleanup, and the 2026 library covered breakers we used to enter by hand. DC arc flash and NFPA 70E 2027 alignment were the upgrade reasons. Stable on Windows 11 for our 1,000-bus files.” — Senior protection engineer
